Love in a box!

image

Today we had the privilege of delivering 14 shoe boxes, bags of soft toys and clothing and a box of books for kids to be distributed to the needy in Táp and the surrounding villages.

The ladies group put together seven shoe boxes on Friday morning and the youth group put another seven boxes together Friday morning. Each box contains goodies such as chocolate, a soft toy, a mug, pencils, hats, slippers and scarves.

Those who receive these gifts are likely to get little if anything else for Christmas. Pray they would be blessed and that the giving of these small gifts would open their hearts to the greatest gift of all!

Do you look at people through the cross?

image

Today whilst in Táp, we took this photo in the village. It made Kati wonder whether or not we see people through or from the perspective of the cross of Christ?

We tend to look at people as friends, family, neighbours etc. We love, like or sometimes  dislike them but do we often see them as people who need Christ? Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”.

Yet through Christ we have the free gift of salvation. John 3:16 “For God so loved the World that He sent His one and only Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life”.

Please continue to pray for Táp and the wonderful work going on there. Our prayer is that the entire village would accept Christ as Saviour!

Furniture for the needy

Yesterday we were able to bless two families by delivering a total of eleven (11) pieces of used kitchen furniture to them in Táp.

It is often the way that as we deliver food, clothing and furniture to the needy that God gives us an opportunity to witness of His love.

Please pray for the lady who kindly donated the furniture, Gerry had a time to chat with her and she seemed opened to the Gospel. Also please pray for both families that this ministry would open doors for further conversation and more opportunities to witness.

Chicken project

With the help of Littleton Vineyard, (a church in Littleton, Colorado) chickens were purchased for two needy families in Táp, Hungary. The families are going to have enough eggs for themselves as well as be able to sell the eggs and buy more chickens in the future.

We are very grateful to all who contributed to make a difference in this small village.Thank you to Calvin Downs, the associate pastor of  Littleton Vineyard who came to Táp with the money for the seeds and chickens and of course thank you to all who gave. Thank you to Lainey and Roy Hitchman for making the contact between Hungary and the USA. It was a privilege to translate between Calvin and the mayor of Táp and witness a mutual agreement in wanting to help those in need.

Teach a man to fish…

Several months ago, as part of our continued outreach to the people of Táp we introduced an American church to the need in this village. Through the generosity of this church in the U.S. and the hard work of our friends Roy and Lainey Hitchman and Kathy, the village of Táp was given financial support to begin self sustainable farming. The church provided the funds and the people of Táp the labour to plant and harvest vegetables.

The vegetables have all been picked and given to thcabbageose in need. A total of about four hundred kilos of corn, cabbage, cauliflower and paprika were harvested. Potatoes were also planted and about 4000 kilos were harvested! What an amazing blessing! Used well, a small gift can impact so many people. This Autumn many families (about 15ö families in total) are being blessed and fed through the generosity of Christians they never met. Please pray that this act of love will bring many to know Christ as their Saviour. As important as it is to feed and clothe the poor, we recognize that telling them about the love of Christ is the most important thing we as believers can do.

Wow!

What an amazing day! At 0830 the first people began to gather for the clothes distribution. All the tables were full and the volunteers in place.

image

At 0900 we opened the doors and about 350 people flooded in.

image

Over the course of the day approximately 1000 people received clothing for the winter months thanks to the generosity of Operation Orphan and the kindness of so many people in the U.K. Also the clothes that were stolen the previous night were returned, with the help of a little persuasion from me 🙂 Our God is good! By 4pm it was time to tidy up and prepare for the service at 6pm.

The evening was a wonderful success with about 80 people turning up. Members of the Operation Orphan team ministered through worship songs and testimony and Gerry preached on the need for a personal relationship with Christ.

image

The response was awesome! People asked for prayer, others asked if we could start a Bible study in their village (15 kilometres from us), some cried and others joined in the worship songs! We are humbled at how amazing our God is. Thank You Lord!

One personal highlight for me, was a former student of Kathys who volunteered to translate for the testimony time. We gave her a dual language (English/Hungarian) Bible as a gift and she was so excited that she asked all of us to write on the inside cover. Please pray for Nikki to come to know the Lord! Also please pray that we would be able to deepen relationships with the people of Táp and the surrounding villages.

Preparation

What a busy day! With the arrival of the amazing Operation Orphan team last night to Táp, we were able to begin preparations in earnest today for distribution tomorrow.

This morning Kathy took the team to visit both the kindergarten and the school (both of which are in the village). After lunch she then took them on a short tour of the excellent traditional peasant home ‘skanzen’ located in the heart of the village.

At 4pm we began (about 20 people in total) packing bags and boxes of clothes onto a trailer and we did this five times so as to move all the clothes to the school for distribution tomorrow.

image

After everything was moved we started unpacking and organizing all the clothes.

image

All was finished by 7.15pm and is ready for tomorrow. Sadly when I checked a little later I found that a number of items of clothes had been stolen. So tomorrow I will run security in the morning to prevent this happening again.

Distribution starts at 9am and we plan to finish at 4pm. At 6pm we then start a service which is open for all those who wish to come but especially for those blessed with these clothes. Please pray for the Operation Orphan team as they serve and also lead worship. Also please pray as I speak in Hungarian and preach the Good News of Salvation in Christ.

Boxes!

The photos may be a little boring but the contents are answers to prayer!

image

Again this year Operation Orphan are coming to Hungary, and Kathy has been instrumental in helping organize it all for both Táp and Budapest. A total of 210 boxes (195 for Táp and 15 for Budapest) filled with shoes, winter coats, hats, gloves etc will be given out on Saturday October 19th to the very needy in our locality.

image

Please pray as we help host the English mission team, organize the clothes distribution, translate and most importantly that people would come to the worship service we will hold in the local school Saturday evening after the distribution of clothes. Gerry will preach a message focusing on the need for all to know Christ as their Lord and Saviour! Please pray with us Saturday at 6pm that people would come to the worship service and that the Holy Spirit would move amongst us!

Financial support

One of the greatest challenges in ministry is the need to raise support. First and foremost we need your prayer support! Without your prayers our ministry will not be as effective. praying for us is a commitment in time and spiritual energy. However we also need financial support. Without adequate finances we will not be able to carry on ministry work in Táp, in Győr, in Hungary and indeed in Europe. Would you be willing to support us? I have just created a PayPal donate button which you can use safely to support our ministry if you so wish.

Thank you in advance for your prayers, love and generosity to us and this ministry!
