Christ is Risen!!!!

Today I had the privilege of speaking in Mallow Street Gospel Hall in Limerick, Ireland. It was a blessing to spend time worshipping the Lord in my ‘home’ church surrounded by family and friends. I preached on the need of the church to wake and arise at this crucial time in history. Kathy also spoke on our ministry work in Hungary.

Myself and my four ladies have had a short (but very needed) holiday in Ireland. A day trip to Lehinch beach was the highlight for me even though it was very windy and cold!

We enjoyed lots of great food, a trip to the cinema to see the movie Risen and plenty of shopping!!! Have any of you ever noticed how amazingly good women are at shopping? 😉

It was good to be home in Ireland and we look forward to going home to Hungary tomorrow. Please continue to pray for travel mercies!

Happy Easter friends, He is Risen!!!

Service in Budapest

image

Today Zsuzsi and I served in Budapest. I preached on David, using 2 Samuel 9 and 11 and Zsuzsi was my translator.

I have been serving every second week in Budapest by teaching English at a family help centre and I had invited the whole class to come hear me preach. I was delighted when several of the group turned up! Please pray that the Holy Spirit would work in their hearts.

For Zsuzsi it was her third time translating this week as she also translated for an American Lutheran pastor Monday (in front of 400 people) and at Friday night youth group. Please pray for her as she prepares for exams in n May and University studies from September.

Easter plans

Easter Sunday, March 27th, we will have the privilege of speaking in Mallow Street Gospel Hall in Limerick. If you are there we would love to see you and chat for a while.

The whole family will be there and we are excited to worship together with our friends.

As we will be in Ireland for only a few days we will not be available to speak elsewhere. Sorry! However if your church, Bible study group etc would like us to visit then just drop me a note and we will work something out for the next time. We are keen to have as many people as possible praying for the ministry work in Hungary and in the Middle-East.

Zsuzsi teaching!

Zsuzsi preached her first message this past Sunday in Budapest. She recently started the process of studying towards becoming ordained in the Free Methodist Church and this is part of her training.

She preached on Job, the faithful servant. Her message focused on the fact that through all the trials he went through, Job remained faithful to the Lord. She challenged the congregation as to whether or not they also stay faithful to God through the difficult times in life.

She also brought a message of hope from Job. In 19:25 we read:

Job 19:25 New International Version (NIV)

25 I know that my redeemer lives,
and that in the end he will stand on the earth.

She preached in Hungarian, did wonderfully well and we are all (family and friends) very proud of her. Please pray for her as she prepares for her final high school exams in May and June and then preparation for University. She is currently considering and praying about doing two degrees, one in social studies and the other in theology.

Trip to Ireland

In June, several of us McNamara’s will be in Ireland for just over a week and we would be delighted to visit you and your church, home group and/or Bible study group and give a presentation on both our ministry work in Hungary and in the Middle East.

We will be available from June 17th to June 24th and we are willing to travel around Ireland. I will be speaking in Mallow Street Hall on June 21st and I will give a special presentation on the work of the persecuted church in the Middle East then and the work of smuggling Bibles that I have been involved in (we would love to see you, why not come and visit us in Limerick that morning!) If your group has an evening meeting on the 21st that is currently free but I suspect it will be filled soon, so first come first serve!

If you would like us to present then please feel free to use the form below to leave a comment or call me on 0036203846042.

New school year

Exciting times are ahead!

Csilla has just started university in Veszprém this week. Zsuzsi and Katica are starting tomorrow. It is Zsuzsi’s third and Katica’s first year in high school. Please pray for a great school year for them and the other students.

Today Zsuzsi, Katica and I delivered the school supplies, some food and other essencials we purchased for the childrens home. The social workers and the children were very thankful.

Thank you to those who gave towards this and are praying for us. Every contribution makes a difference, however small! “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” /2 Corinthians.9:7/

Please continue to pray as I (Kathy) begin helping some of the children and maybe a staff member with their English at the home.

Take time to look at the pictures we took today. As you can see the kids were really happy for the gifts. 🙂

Blessings from the McNamara family!

Back to school

It has been several years since I last had to really study (2009 actually for ordination) and I had forgotten how very exhausting study can be.

For the last two weeks I have been in Budapest on a CELTA intensive course. This is a course to train as a teacher of English as a foreign language. Although I already have a similar qualification (TEFL), I feel I need another qualification to help me get a new job (you may remember that my position at the university finished recently).

My days typically start at 06.30, school is 0900 to 1700 and then study, lesson plans and assignments till 0100.

I have very little energy at the moment but I am grateful to friends in Budapest for feeding me at the weekend! I was privileged to preach yesterday in Budapest and I have been enjoying teaching our church leaders English.

Please pray for me as I study, write and teach. Also please pray for my four girls at home as they have extra to do without me to help .

Wow!

What an amazing day! At 0830 the first people began to gather for the clothes distribution. All the tables were full and the volunteers in place.

image

At 0900 we opened the doors and about 350 people flooded in.

image

Over the course of the day approximately 1000 people received clothing for the winter months thanks to the generosity of Operation Orphan and the kindness of so many people in the U.K. Also the clothes that were stolen the previous night were returned, with the help of a little persuasion from me 🙂 Our God is good! By 4pm it was time to tidy up and prepare for the service at 6pm.

The evening was a wonderful success with about 80 people turning up. Members of the Operation Orphan team ministered through worship songs and testimony and Gerry preached on the need for a personal relationship with Christ.

image

The response was awesome! People asked for prayer, others asked if we could start a Bible study in their village (15 kilometres from us), some cried and others joined in the worship songs! We are humbled at how amazing our God is. Thank You Lord!

One personal highlight for me, was a former student of Kathys who volunteered to translate for the testimony time. We gave her a dual language (English/Hungarian) Bible as a gift and she was so excited that she asked all of us to write on the inside cover. Please pray for Nikki to come to know the Lord! Also please pray that we would be able to deepen relationships with the people of Táp and the surrounding villages.

Boxes!

The photos may be a little boring but the contents are answers to prayer!

image

Again this year Operation Orphan are coming to Hungary, and Kathy has been instrumental in helping organize it all for both Táp and Budapest. A total of 210 boxes (195 for Táp and 15 for Budapest) filled with shoes, winter coats, hats, gloves etc will be given out on Saturday October 19th to the very needy in our locality.

image

Please pray as we help host the English mission team, organize the clothes distribution, translate and most importantly that people would come to the worship service we will hold in the local school Saturday evening after the distribution of clothes. Gerry will preach a message focusing on the need for all to know Christ as their Lord and Saviour! Please pray with us Saturday at 6pm that people would come to the worship service and that the Holy Spirit would move amongst us!
