Arad, Romania

I have just enjoyed several days serving in Arad, Romania. My good friends the Ball family (Spencer, Lynsey, Trinity and Jonathan invited me) have been serving here for a number of years now. They are involved in a number of different ministries and are wonderful, committed believers giving their all for Christ.

I got to visit Vis de Copil which is a drop in center for the homeless and poorest of society in Arad. They feed a large number of people daily on a limited budget. Please visit the following link if you want to learn more about their work and how to support them: http://achildsdream.org.uk/index.html

Small group Bible study. I had the privilege of speaking about our ministry in Hungary and the Middle East. The group were very interested in the plight of the persecuted church. I actually spoke Hungarian here with it translated into Romanian.

Service at a Mental health institute. Spencer and a wonderful young Scottish man, Colm, head up this work. It is occupational therapy that is godly with the main focus on Christ. They deal with men and women who have learning disabilities and others who have mental health issues.

Buying the food for the widows mite ministry which feeds a number of elderly people who have very little to get by with. Spencer shops and then distributes the food. About 275 dollars monthly helps to provide 13 people with basics for the month. Contact me for further information on supporting this ministry.

Please keep the Ball family in his prayers. They are doing wonderful ministry in a very needy land!

2016, the year ahead.

calendar_2016_template_round_button_6815001.jpg2016 is shaping up to be a great year! We have so much planned already and are excited about what the Lord has planned for us this coming year. We want to share a few of our planned trips and ministry events with you and ask you to partner with us in prayer for this year.

In January we hope to be in Denmark for a few days as we celebrate the wedding of a wonderful Christian young couple. I was very honoured that they asked me to do a pre-wedding blessing for them over the Christmas period. Please pray for Erin and Jonathan as they prepare for married life together!

In March I hope to visit with Free Methodist church leaders in Belgium and France and serve them by helping to further equip these men and women of God and hopefully be an encouragement to them also.

Come the Summer we hope to have a team of eight people join us from America who will serve by helping run a five day evangelistic camp at the orphanage we serve in on a weekly basis. In June I hope to travel to Ukraine to help equip church leaders there and God willing we will travel to Ireland in August for a few weeks to talk at churches and have a vacation.

We will also continue with our Bible study group and weekly ministry at a local orphanage in Győr. Kati and I will also continue our twice monthly trips to Budapest (she will continue teach English to social workers and I will teach English at a family help center for a few weeks). We also hope to continue our work supporting and helping the needy of Győr and we are actively trying to gain access to a local center for the homeless. Kati has already made good contact with them and we believe the Lord is opening this door before us.

We are grateful for your prayers and support and are thankful that we can call you our partners in ministry! We pray that you are all blessed in 2016!

USA financial support

Occasionally we have requests for information from people in America wondering how they can financially support us. Well there are two ways to do so now. Firstly you can pay via PayPal using the ‘Donate’ button located on this page. Secondly you can also now donate (either as a one time gift or as a recurring payment) via the following page:

https://give.fmcusa.org/donation/csa-hungary—mcnamara-imsa     (you need to look at the left hand side of the pages, click on countries and then click on ‘Hungary – McNamara IMSA’).

Donations are how we live. It is not fun to ask but without asking you may not know of the need. All the work we do needs financing. Whether it is taking orphans to the zoo, bringing food and clothes to the needy, traveling to a church to preach or providing a hot meal to the homeless we need support. We cannot do this work alone. We want you to be our partner. We understand that many people are requesting support, charities are in constant need. Prayer is the greatest support you can give us. After that we are grateful for your kind words of encouragement via snail mail or e-mail. if you feel led then we are grateful for your financial support.

Soon I (Gerry) will be taking a trip to America. I will be in Florida, Ohio, New York State and Pennsylvania. In an upcoming post I will gives dates, times and places of where I will be presenting about both the work in Hungary and in the Middle-East. Send me an e-mail or leave a comment here if you would like more information.

News from Győr

Matthew 25:35-36 says: For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,  I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ We have recently had the privilege of doing just that. According to statistics taken from 2012. there are 450-500 homeless people living in Győr. About 270 live in homeless shelters, the others are out on the streets even in the harshest weather conditions. That is around 200 people… We can not solve the world’s problems at once but we can all do something. And we do not have to do it alone. The members of the local Baptist Church cook a meal every Wednesday throughout the winter months for the homeless. We were able to team up with them to provide a meal for all that came. It was such a blessing to be a part of it. We are giving thanks to God who provides all our needs and more. We are thankful to our friends from all over the world who support our work here in Hungary. We thank you for supporting us in the past and in the future. Our hope and prayer is to continue working for God’s glory. The menu was Hungarian Goulash soup with bread. gulyásleves2

Ministry to the homeless

-There are about 3O thousand homeless people in Hungary.

-The number of homeless people in Győr is between 25O-3OO.

-The government has brought in new regulations that makes it more diffucult to give food etc. to the needy on the streets(a number of permissions needed). If someone sleeps on a bench they will be fined.

Recently Zsuzsi has been giving sandwiches to a homeless man in Győr.The man has also accepted a bag of clothes, food for his dog and a Bible! Please pray for this man that he would start reading God’s word and come to faith in Christ.

Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.

( 1Timothy 6,18)
