An incredible camp at the orphanage!

This past week we held a five day camp at the orphanage in Gyor. We received permission to work with the kids on both floors (each floor belongs to a different government department). From 9am to midday Monday through Friday we sang worship songs, made crafts, had Bible messages and dramas, played football and had lots of fun! Overall we served 20 kids.
A group of seven people from Batavia, New York State    www.northgate.fmc.co m joined us and made the camp possible. Together we partnered in helping these kids come to know more about the love of God. We are very grateful to them for their excellent work! Also thanks to Kathy for her very hard work in communicating with both government organisations, translating and hosting the team. Nobody I knows works as tirelessly and selflessly as she does. Special thanks to Csilla, Zsuzsi, Katica, Zsolti, Gabi and Adam for being great volunteers!!!!

On Friday the team enjoyed lunch with the kids at the orphanage. I had a lunch meeting with the Irish ambassador to Hungary and the deputy mayor of Gy玫r which was productive and has opened up some possible new doors to ministry in the future. However I think the kids, team and local volunteers had more fun then me 馃榾

These little ones are in real danger from those who intend evil. Please join us in prayer that lives would be transformed and that the Lord would keep them safe in his hands.

Preaching in Northgate, Batavia, New York State

Recently I had the great privilege of preaching at the Northgate Free Methodist Church, Batavia, New York State.

Pastor Vern Saile and his team very kindly hosted me and I enjoyed speaking a total of five times on both a Saturday evening and on Sunday morning also. I spoke from Ruth chapter three and my focus was on going, protecting and giving. Please feel free to watch the video. If you are looking for a sermon series to watch at home I strongly recommend you look around at the various sermon series that the Northgate church have on their site. Pastor Vern is an excellent preacher who communicates the love of God beautifully.

The highlight of the weekend for me was on Saturday evening when two people were baptized. One was a lady in her mid-fifties who has an inoperable brain tumor. She had to climb into the baptismal font with the help of others, her public demonstration of her faith in Christ took great effort physically on her behalf. I and many others were very deeply moved. Please remember Rosemary in your prayers

Easter celebrations

This Sunday we had a wonderful time of Bible study, prayer, worship and fellowship as we celebrated the risen Lord! We were blessed by Yoli and Zsolti leading us in worship, Katica and Kathy taught the children and Gerry lead the teaching time. We remembered the sacrifice of Christ as we partook in communion together. Afterwards we enjoyed a wonderful meal and then had a serious discussion on the direction of our group and how we can reach more people for Christ. I am so blessed by all these great men and women of Christ and I’m very impressed at how the young people are growing in their faith.

The underground church in the Middle East met on Friday. Last year I was blessed to celebrate Easter with them. Please continue to pray for believers who are not free to worship Christ without fear of persecution.

Today then we had the Hungarian tradition of ‘locsol谩s’. On Easter Monday, males sprinkle their female relatives and close friends with water. It is one of the oldest traditions and it symbolizes rebirth, purity and fertility. The picture below is from last year and is of Zsuzsi being doused with water by Zsolti.

Hungary to Madagascar!

We were blessed to have our good friend K贸ber Ildik贸 come to Gy艖r and present about her recent mission trip to Madagascar. She presented twice, once at the Friday night youth group and a second time at our home. The Friday evening presentation was well attended with about 15 people. Saturday had a much lower attendance, however people stayed for a couple of hours afterwards so as to enjoy fellowship and refreshments. Everybody loved hearing Ildik贸 speak. Ildik贸 has a powerful testimony and she is being used by the Lord in a mighty way as an evangelist and Bible teacher. Having come to know Christ as her Saviour, she felt a strong need to improve her biblical knowledge and therefore travelled to Switzerland to undertake further studies. Whilst in Switzerland she had the opportunity to travel to Madagascar on a mission trip. You can find more information on her blog: 聽 聽http://growinthelord.blogspot.hu/ 聽 聽Please feel free to visit her blog and learn more about her and her ministry.

Ildik贸 will now continue to serve in Budapest. She is on fire for the Lord, passionate about reaching the lost and an excellent speaker. She does however need support. if you have been looking for a worthy ministry to support on a one off or regular basis then the work Ildik贸 is doing is most deserving of your help and prayers.

Christmas time

Hi friends,

Zsolti and I (Zsuzsi) are writing the blog today.

Today we went to the children’s home with mum and Katica. The children’s home is in Gy艖r and we visit it often.聽We have started this ministry about 4 years ago with our youth group. There are 10 kids in the home, beetween the age of 7 and 17. We told them the Christmas story which they really enjoyed. We thought a lot about how to tell them this story because it is a story they all know and we wanted it to be meaningful. We talked about God’s love and the purpose of Jesus being born. We felt it went really well. Of course the kids were really happy for the gifts we brought to them. Think about it if you would like to support this ministry in the future. Pray about it and let us know. We are telling this story again tomorrow at a Christmas programme for kids. Please pray for us that it will go well. Thank you! 馃檪

“And these are the days of great trials
Of famine and darkness and sword
Still we are the voice in the desert crying
Prepare ye the way of the Lord!”

CEF course part two

We already mentioned the CEF (Child Evangelism Fellowship) course which the girls ( Katica,Zsuzsa ) were attending. This Saturday they finished the course succesfully.

The girls would like to share their聽experience:

Throughout the course we learnt so much about kids, God and ourselves! It was a great opportunity to spend our Saturdays with other believers and to get to know more about teaching the gospel.
I learnt different ways of teaching the gospel which I find realy usefull and interesting. And also I see the聽areas where I need improvement. (Zsuzsi)
I think God led me to this course and I feel that He wants me to continue in children’s ministry. I hope to do the second course.(Katica)
Thank you to our supporters for making this possible!

CEF course

Zsuzsi and Katica are attendig a CEF (Child Evangelism Fellowship) course over the next聽few weeks. It is a 40-hour course where they learn about teaching non-christian kids about God.

The course is held on 5 Saturdays from 9 to 16:30. The girls need extra prayer as they have school from Monday to Friday and find it hard to get up early on Saturday mornings too. 馃檪 However, they always come home excited after the long day.

So far they have learned to present the Wordless Book and 聽how to teach memory verses.

They are really enjoying the course and are ready to use their new skills.
